Swanland House is a residential home for adults and elderly clientele that has the fulfilment of the individual needs of each resident as its central ethos.
Our aim is to provide an exemplary standard of care that reduces the natural concerns of clients, their families and representatives and provides some peace of mind that everything that can be done is being done to optimise each resident’s quality of life. We aim to provide our residents with a friendly, safe, comfortable, protected environment.
We are fully aware that deciding to leave one’s home and stay as a resident in a care home for a long or short period is a difficult and distressing decision to make. |
 |
| |
For this reason we go out of our way to listen to the thought, concerns and requirements of clients, their families and representatives and aim to provide a personally tailored care service that will allow each resident to live as independently as they wish and ensure that all their needs are met.
We have the good fortune to operate from a beautiful grade II listed Victorian manor house set in an acre of lovely gardens in the picturesque village of Swanland, to the west of Hull. Those residents who are able to, can go into the village – perhaps to the Post Office or duck pond – or stroll or sit in the garden when the weather allows. All public rooms, seating areas and bedrooms are easily accessible.

The current management has been operating at Swanland House for 17 years and over this time has built a reputation for the best quality of care. Mrs Stevenson, the home’s proprietor, manages the home in person. A qualified nurse with NHS and relevant private sector experience prior to establishing the home, she is assisted by a caring, well-trained staff that shares the home’s individual care ethos.
We provide long-stay care and short-stay care for 20 residents. We also provide day care for up to seven clients. We have both single rooms and double rooms for couples or those sharing a room with another resident. Services including hairdressing, chiropody and physiotherapy are available. Visitors are welcome at any time and residents’ families and representatives are encouraged to discuss any issues or concerns in an open, free and friendly basis.
All our equipment is up to date and includes nurse call systems, bathing and lifting hoists and assisted bathing facilities. Every room is tastefully decorated and fully furnished but with space for residents’ personal items. We want everyone to have a happy and comfortable stay with us and so help each resident to adapt to their new surroundings.
